Dua Lipa's wedding jewellery — and why one statement piece changed everything

Dua Lipa's wedding jewellery — and why one statement piece changed everything

There have been a lot of beautiful celebrity weddings this year. But when Dua Lipa married Callum Turner in London this week, it was not the dress that stopped us in our tracks — impressive as it was. It was the jewellery.

And there was really only one piece.

The look

Lipa chose a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture skirt suit for her wedding, designed by Daniel Roseberry — a tailored blazer, high-low pencil skirt and wide-brimmed Stephen Jones hat that drew immediate comparisons to Bianca Jagger's iconic 1971 wedding look. It was considered, fashion-forward and completely her own. A bridal look built around personality rather than convention.

For jewellery, she anchored her look with a Bvlgari Serpenti necklace in 18ct pink gold, featuring two pear-cut emeralds — and classic diamond stud earrings. That was it. No layering, no stacking, no competing pieces. Just one extraordinary necklace, worn with complete confidence.

The jewellery created a glamorous contrast against the pared-back tailoring — which is precisely the point. When the outfit is clean and minimal, a single statement piece of jewellery does not compete with anything. It simply takes over.

Why this matters for how we think about bridal jewellery

The instinct for many brides is to add more. More earrings, more bracelets, more layers — as if the occasion demands a certain weight of jewellery to feel significant. Dua Lipa's wedding is a masterclass in the opposite approach.

Rather than opting for an elaborate high-jewellery creation, she selected a piece that perfectly aligned with the sophisticated tone of the ceremony — highlighting an ongoing bridal trend towards timeless jewellery that prioritises design, craftsmanship and wearability.

The result was a bridal look where the jewellery felt completely intentional. Not an afterthought, not an accessory — but the focal point around which everything else was arranged. That is a fundamentally different way of thinking about bridal jewellery, and it is one we find genuinely inspiring.

A little history — the Bvlgari Serpenti

The piece Dua chose has one of the most extraordinary histories in luxury jewellery. The Bvlgari Serpenti collection debuted in 1948 as a bracelet watch that coiled around the wrist — and in over 75 years of its influential presence in jewellery and watchmaking, it has tempted the desires of legendary actresses and style icons.

In the 1960s, Elizabeth Taylor bought a Serpenti watch while filming Cleopatra in Rome at the Cinecittà Studios — an apt choice given the role she was embodying — and her passion for the piece significantly boosted Bvlgari's profile worldwide. From Elizabeth Taylor to Dua Lipa — six decades apart, the same iconic design, the same instinct for something truly extraordinary.

A longtime favourite in her jewellery collection, the Bvlgari Serpenti motif has become something of a signature for Lipa — in the weeks leading up to her wedding, she wore Serpenti pieces repeatedly, from drop earrings and matching cuff bracelets to diamond necklaces at Cannes. When she chose it for her wedding day, it felt entirely natural. The most personal jewellery choices always do.

What this means for 2026 brides

The message from Dua Lipa's wedding is clear — and it is one we have always believed at Harrogate Jewellers. Choose one piece you truly love, wear it with confidence, and let it do all the work.

That piece might be a statement necklace, a pair of extraordinary earrings, a fine diamond bracelet or a pendant that carries personal meaning. What matters is that it feels right for you — chosen with care, not accumulated out of obligation.

Your bridal jewellery deserves as much thought as your dress. And the right piece, chosen well, will be something you wear and treasure long after the wedding day itself.
