The Engagement Ring Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2027

The Engagement Ring Trends Everyone Will Be Wearing in 2027

Every year brings a new wave of engagement ring inspiration, but 2027 feels different. Rather than one dominant style, the trends we are seeing in the showroom are all pointing in the same direction: rings with character, individuality and a story of their own.

Here are the styles we believe will define the year ahead, and how to make each one feel entirely personal to you.

  1. The bezel setting

Clean, sleek and quietly confident, the bezel setting wraps a fine band of metal around the stone for a smooth, uninterrupted silhouette. It is one of the oldest setting techniques in jewellery and yet it feels completely modern. It is also one of the most practical choices you can make, protecting the edges of the stone beautifully for everyday wear.

For something a little lighter, a semi bezel secures the ends of the stone while leaving the sides open to let the light pour in. It works particularly well with elongated shapes such as emerald, marquise and pear cuts.

2. Three stone rings

The trilogy ring is having a real moment. Traditionally said to represent the past, the present and the future, it offers endless possibilities for personalisation. Matching stones create a classic, balanced look, while mixing shapes, such as an emerald cut centre with trapezoid side stones, brings a more architectural and contemporary feel.

This year we have created three stone rings with sapphire centres, fancy coloured diamonds and even a client’s own diamond reset alongside a newly sourced stone, which is a beautiful way to carry something meaningful forward into a new design.

3. Emerald, princess and radiant cuts

After several years of the oval leading the way, we are seeing a clear shift towards cuts with more structure. The emerald cut, with its long step cut facets and hall of mirrors effect, is the choice for those who love understated elegance. The princess cut offers crisp, modern geometry, and the radiant cut combines the clean outline of an emerald cut with the sparkle of a brilliant.

If you are drawn to these shapes, proportions matter enormously. We always review the length to width ratio and depth of every stone to ensure it faces up beautifully and looks its absolute best on the hand.

4. Coloured gemstones, especially sapphires

More couples than ever are choosing a coloured centre stone, often for its personal or symbolic meaning. Sapphires lead the way, prized for their depth of colour and exceptional durability, second only to diamond in hardness. Beyond classic blue, yellow and pink sapphires are bringing warmth and individuality to engagement ring design.

For the true connoisseur, an unheated sapphire, one whose colour is entirely natural and untreated, is among the most special stones you can own.

5. Champagne and fancy coloured diamonds

Warm toned diamonds in champagne, cognac and soft brown hues are being embraced for their subtle, sophisticated character. Set in yellow gold, they create a rich, harmonious look that feels both vintage and fresh. One of our favourite commissions this year featured an elongated antique cushion cut fancy light brown diamond flanked by two matching side stones, and it is a perfect example of how unexpected colour can create something truly unforgettable.

6. Antique and vintage inspired cuts

Old mine cuts, antique cushions and hand finished stones with softer, chunkier facets are being sought out for their romance and individuality. No two are exactly alike, which makes them a wonderful choice for anyone wanting a ring with a sense of history.

7. Asymmetrical, east west and tilted designs

Perhaps the most exciting shift of all is the move away from perfect symmetry. Stones set horizontally, tilted at an angle, or paired with off centre accents create rings that feel more like a piece of contemporary art. These designs suit those who want something genuinely different, and they lend themselves beautifully to bespoke commissions.

8. Warm yellow gold

Yellow gold continues its return as the metal of choice, bringing warmth and a timeless richness to every style above. Many couples are pairing yellow gold bands with platinum claws, combining warmth with a crisp, bright setting for the stone.

Making a trend your own

Trends are a wonderful source of inspiration, but the most beautiful rings are always the ones that feel personal. Whether you are drawn to a single trend or want to combine several, our team will guide you through every option, from stone selection to setting and metal, so that the finished piece is entirely yours.

If you are thinking about a bespoke design for a Christmas or New Year proposal, please note our bespoke diary for 2026 closes on 1st November.
